A 20-plus panel of independent aerospace experts has selected the finalists for this year's Flight International Aerospace Industry Awards. The awards, designed to recognise achievements in the aerospace industry over the past year, will be presented at a gala banquet on 18 June at Le Grand Hotel Inter-Continental, Paris, during the Paris air show.

Finalists in the air transport category are Airbus, Boeing and Embraer. LiveTV, Rockwell Collins, Smiths Group and UPS Aviation Technologies are contenders for the top prize in the avionics and aircraft systems category, while Adam Aircraft, Brunei Shell Petroleum and Cessna Aircraft have been shortlisted as finalists for the business and general aviation trophy.

The corporate strategy award will be presented to EADS, Honeywell or SITA, and EADS, Airbus, Lockheed Martin, Northrop Grumman and SITA are competing for the engineering, maintenance and modification trophy.

The panel of judges picked the US Federal Aviation Administration, Lufthansa CityLine and Swedavia as infrastructure and the environment finalists, while Boeing, DERA/De Beers Industrial Diamonds and Northrop Grumman are competing for the military aviation award.

The propulsion trophy will be presented to GE Aircraft Engines, MTU Aero Engines or Orenda Recip, while contenders for the space and missiles award are Israel Aircraft Industries, Northrop Grumman and Surrey Space Centre. The training and safety shortlist comprises Bombardier Aerospace Defence Services, EVAS Worldwide, the Flight Safety Foundation and the UK Civil Aviation Authority.

The ceremony will also include presentation of the prestigious Personality of the Year award.
