A fire destroyed the domestic passenger terminal at Indonesia’s fourth-busiest airport at the weekend.

The fire broke out late on 1 December at Polonia Airport in Medan. Medan, in North Sumatra, is Indonesia’s third largest city and its airport is the country’s fourth busiest.

Pictures of the airport show its domestic passenger terminal was completely destroyed in the blaze, which is under investigation, although there were no reports of injuries.

International operations were not affected by the fire and domestic flight operations largely returned to normal on 2 December, according to local media reports, as tents were put up and tables set up to act as makeshift check-in counters.
