The California Army National Guard deployed a Sikorsky UH-60L Firehawk to fight wildfires earlier this year, delaying a public demonstration from mid-July until 29 October. All firefighting aircraft saw higher demand in the firefighting season, after the US government grounded most of the large air-tanker fleet on safety grounds. California is the last of five state National Guard units to deploy a Firehawk, which is fitted with a removable 3,800 litre (1,000USgal) water tank.
