Northrop Grumman’s RQ-8A Fire Scout vertical take-off and landing unmanned air vehicle has fired its first weapons in support of a company initiative to promote an armed capability to future operators the US Army and US Navy. The UAV successfully launched two 70mm (2.75in) unguided rockets at forward speeds of 35kt (65km/h) and 45kt during trials at Yuma, Arizona.
