The maiden flight of the Atlas V has been delayed to no earlier than 6 August after Lockheed Martin decided to repeat an umbilical retraction system test and postpone the final countdown dress rehearsal to 17 July.

The first launch of a booster developed under the US Air Force Evolved Expendable Launch Vehicle programme will fly a mission operated by International Launch Services, carrying the Eutelsat Hot Bird 6 communications satellite.
