The first production Alenia C-27J Spartan medium transport aircraft for the Greek air force arrived at Elefsis air base near Athens on 4 August. The first delivery had been delayed for several months due to unspecified “paperwork” problems. The aircraft has entered final acceptance trials that should be concluded in the second half of August. The second aircraft will follow at a short interval, having already begun preliminary acceptance procedures in Italy. Ordered in January 2003, Greece’s 12 C-27Js will be assigned to 354 Sqn at Elefsis. The contract includes an option for three additional aircraft.
