Colombian flag carrier Avianca has revealed its selection of Panasonic Avionics' eX2 in-flight entertainment (IFE) system for its 10 new Airbus A330s.
Delivery to Avianca of the first of the batch of eX2-equipped A330s was marked today in a ceremony held in Bogota.
In addition to offering audio and video on demand (AVOD), maps, games, surveys, and office tools, the eX2 platform enables Avianca passengers to listen and view the contents of personal media players like the iPod and iPhone through the system.
"With the eX2, Avianca will be able to offer our passengers an incredible flying experience, with many entertainment options, a key to fulfilling our goals of service and business," says Avianca president Fabio Villegas Ramirez in a statement.
Avianca in May 2007 ordered five A330-200s to bridge the gap before delivery of the Boeing 787, of which it has orders for ten. One month later, the carrier firmed options for five more A330-200s.
