Sikorsky completed the first flight of the modernised UH-60M on 17 September. The machine, flown by Kevin Bredenbeck and Chris Geanacopoulos, flew for 75min from Sikorsky's flight test centre in West Palm Beach, Florida. The first UH-60M - which has new wide-chord rotor blades and uprated General Electric T700-701D engines - has been rebuilt from an A model, and will be used to test performance and handling. The US Army could eventually upgrade 1,200 UH-60A/Ls to M standard and acquire 300 new-build machines.
