In among the slick larger stands at Asian Aerospace, you can still find the small one-man business making his first foray into the international aerospace market.

Mike Clingenpeel, 39, is exhibiting at an air show for the first time. His company Clingenpeel Inc, based in South Bend, Indiana, offers aircraft parts and salvage.

He says: “This is my first air show anywhere. I am just a small entrepreneur looking to make contacts and do business. “If anyone wants to buy parts then I have either got it, or I can find it for them.”

On stand D457 with Mike is 67-year-old dad Bob, whose 15h flight to Singapore from Indiana was his first commercial flight. The last time he flew over Singapore was in 1959 as aircrew in the US navy.

He says: “The views were familiar and I loved every minute of it.”
