Commercial aircraft net orders came in at 339 for February 2012 as 346 new orders were offset by seven cancellations, with another five swaps.
The highlight of the month was the Lion Air order of 230 Boeing 737s, 201 of which were for the new 737 Max. ALAFCO placed 35 orders for the Airbus A320neo, Lion Air’s subsidiary Wings Air ordered 27 ATR72s while BOC Aviation ordered 20 Comac C919s.
Boeing totalled 237 new orders in February while Airbus received 42. ATR received 27 orders while Comac and Bombardier received 20 and 13 respectively.
In the narrowbody market, 230 737s, 36 A320 family aircraft as well as 20 C919s were ordered. The widebody orders in the month were for six A350s, four 767s and three 787s. In the regional market, the orders were for 27 ATR72s, seven DHC-6s, seven Dash 8s and six CRJs.
Overall, the order backlog for airliners ended February at 9,884, up 237 on the previous month.
