Commercial aircraft net orders came in at 20 for March 2012 as 69 new orders were offset by 49 cancellations, with another 13 swaps.

The highlight of the month was the China Eastern Airlines order of 45 Boeing 737s. TAAG Angola Airlines ordered three Boeing 777s while Air Lease Corporation ordered two A330s and Air New Zealand ordered two 787s. In the regional market, Eurolot placed eight orders for the Bombardier Dash 8.

In the major cancellations of the month, China Eastern Airlines and Shanghai Airlines cancelled 15 and nine 787s respectively. It has also been announced that Wizz Air cancelled 20 A320s, a cancellation which actually took place in December 2011.

Boeing totalled 53 new orders in March while Airbus received only two. Bombardier received 10 orders while Let and Embraer received three and one respectively.

Overall, the order backlog for airliners ended March at 9,670, down 96 on the previous month.
