Airliner net orders came in at 20 in October as 41 new orders were offset by 21 cancellations, with another 2 swaps.
Norwegian Air Shuttle ordered six Boeing 737s while leasing company AWAS ordered four Airbus A320s, four A330s and two A350s. Canada’s Newfoundland & Labrador Government placed an order for four Bombardier 415 water bombers. German tour operator TUI cancelled six Boeing 787s, US based lessor Pegasus Aviation cancelled four A330s and Hamburg International Airlines cancelled four A320s. Air France also swapped two A321s for two A320s.
Boeing totalled 14 new orders in the month while Airbus received 11. Bombardier totalled eight orders and Embraer four. ATR and Viking both received two orders each. Regional jet orders included four ERJ-135s and two CRJs.
A total of 12 737s and four A320s were placed in October for narrowbody aircraft. Widebody orders were placed for five A330s, two A350s and two 777s. October was quite busy for turboprops which included orders of four 415s, two Dash 8s, two ATR42 and two DHC-6s.
Overall, the order backlog for airliners ended October at 7,795, down 87 on the previous month.
