Airliner net orders came in at eight in September as 25 new orders were offset by 17 cancellations, with another 17 swaps.
Turkish cargo airline MNG Airlines ordered two Airbus A330s being the only widebody order for the month. Vietnamese start-up Science Technology & Commerce ordered two Ruag 228s while Lufthansa placed an order for a single Embraer 195. Slovakian SkyEurope cancelled seven Boeing 737s while US Airways cancelled five Embraer 190s. Saudi Arabian Airlines swapped 15 Airbus A320s for A321s while French carrier Regional swapped a 190 for a 170. Qantas also swapped an A320 for an A321.
Boeing totalled 17 new orders in the month while Airbus only received the two A330 orders from MNG Airlines. Bombardier, Embraer and Ruag each totalled two orders.
The 17 Boeing new orders in September were exclusively for 737 narrowbody aircraft. The only widebody orders came in for the two A330s. The regional aircraft orders came in for two Bombardier CRJs and two Ruag 228s, one Embraer ERJ-135 and a 195.
Overall, the order backlog for airliners ended September at 7,896, down 110 on the previous month.
