Jet convenience

Ansett regional operator Kendell Airlines is to acquire 12 new 50-seat regional jets to upgrade its network in Eastern Australia. The new aircraft will be introduced from November 1999, but no decision has been made between the Bombardier Canadair CRJ-200 and Embraer RJ-145 models.

Outback Jetstream

Flight West Airlines of Brisbane has purchased its fourth Jetstream 32EP from BAe Asset Management. The 19-seat turboprop will be used on the airline routes into Australia's outback.

Hong Kong's Dragonair is leasing an Airbus A320 through the Philippines National Bank to operate essential domestic routes following the collapse of Philippine Airlines.

Fijian flight

Flag carrier Air Pacific has taken delivery of its first next-generation Boeing 737-700. It also has two 737-800s on order.

Next generation

India's largest privately owned Jet Airways has taken delivery of two new leased Boeing 737-800s, replacing one leased -400 and one -500. This latest acquisition brings the airline's 737 fleet to 18.

Himalayan lease

Royal Nepal Airlines is planning to lease an additional Boeing 757-200 for its Asian routes to overcome an ongoing aircraft shortage. The airline operates two 757s through a lease-purchase deal arranged with Boeing.
