AerCap has confirmed it is in talks with General Electric in respect to GECAS, but notes that the outcome of the discussions “has yet to be determined”.
In a regulatory filing on 9 March, the Irish lessor said that there “can be no guarantee that an agreement will be reached or on the terms of any agreement”.
AerCap says that no further public statements will be made in this matter “until the time of the conclusion of those discussions”.
On 7 March, The Wall Street Journal reported that GECAS’s parent General Electric was nearing a $30 billion deal to combine GECAS with AerCap. Cirium has not independently verified that report, which cited unnamed people familiar with the matter.
GECAS released a statement to Cirum in which it said: “We don’t comment on rumour or speculation”.
