Air France has released images and video of an Airbus A220-300 decked in the company’s colours, showcasing what will be the latest addition to its fleet.
The airline released the renderings shortly after the disclosure of Air France-KLM’s agreement to acquire up to 120 of the aircraft.
The deal includes firm orders for 60 A220-300s, of which deliveries are to begin in 2021. The company also took options on another 30 A220-300s and acquisition rights on a further 30.
Air France-KLM will deploy the 150-seat aircraft with operating unit Air France, which will use them to “gradually replace” A318s and A319s operating short- and medium-haul routes, says the group.

Air France-KLM chief executive Ben Smith calls the A220-300 “perfectly adapted to our domestic and European network”.
The order comes 10 months into the tenure of Smith, who was a top executive at Air Canada when that airline ordered 45 A220-300s in 2016. At that time, the A220 was owned by Bombardier and called CSeries.
Airlines have ordered roughly 610 A220s, including the 60 aircraft for Air France-KLM, and Airbus’s backlog stands at 530 of the aircraft, its data shows.
