Romanian flag carrier Tarom has signed an order for five Boeing 737 Max 8s at the Farnborough air show.
The deal – previously listed without attribution on Boeing's order and deliveries website – has a list-price value of $586 million, says the airframer.
It has also struck a lease deal covering two 737-800s, as well as a landing gear exchange programme from Boeing Global Services.
"This is an exciting time for Tarom as we upgrade our fleet and build strong partnerships that will benefit all of our passengers," states Tarom's chief executive Wolff Werner-Wilhelm.
"The 737 Max will provide our customers with exceptional performance, reliability and efficiency, with an extended range that will enable us to better serve our current routes and open new markets."
He adds: "This new acquisition represents a true statement of change for Tarom."
Flight Fleets Analyzer shows that Tarom has 12 737s in service, including eight NGs. It also operates nine ATR turboprops and four Airbus A318s.
The Max 8s are due to for delivery in 2023, while it will take the leased 737-800s next year.
