Flight Dynamics has formally announced its selection by Embraer as sole source supplier of head-up-displays for the ERJ-145 regional jet after a long running technical selection battle with GEC-Marconi and Sextant Avionique.

The announcement follows the earlier selection of the Flight Dynamics head-up guidance (HGS) system by Luxembourg-based Luxair. The Oregon-based company is hopeful for as many as 50 sales of the system to other European ERJ-145 operators, as well as for substantial sales in the USA to carriers such as AMR Eagle and Continental Express.

Flight Dynamics says the system offers 300ft (100m) runway visual range take-off performance and lower landing visibility minima as well as standalone Category IIIA instrument landing capability, at airports that are rated at only Category IA.
