FlightSafety International is to build and operate an Embraer 170 full-flight simulator, adding to a fleet that now includes 18 Level D simulators for the Brazilian manufacturer's ERJ-145 regional jet family. The Level D simulator for the Embraer 170 will be delivered late next year to a location yet to be announced.

FlightSafety is the factory-authorised training provider for the ERJ-145 family, as well as the EMB-120 Brasilia turboprop.

However, the entitlement training for Embraer 170 customers is provided by CAE on two simulators located at its Montreal, Canada manufacturing plant. The addition of an Embraer 170 simulator to its fleet will allow FlightSafety to compete for the recurrent training business.

FlightSafety, meanwhile, has announced it will locate simulators for the Beech 1900D and Saab 340 regional turboprops at its new Farnborough, UK-based centre, which is scheduled to open for customer training in March next year. Simulators for the Beechcraft King Air 200, Cessna Citation CJ2 and Bravo, Gulfstream IV and Hawker 800XP will also be installed in the centre.

n CAE is to provide a Level 5 flight training device and 20 virtual maintenance trainers to Calgary-based Canadian low-cost carrier WestJet Airlines.
