There have been some errors in recent Future of Flight articles:

The Cornu helicopter of 1907 was the first tandem rotor helicopter, not the Piasecki PV-3 of 1945;

The FA 61 was not the first practical helicopter, as it first flew in December 1936, whereas the Breguet-Dorand Gyroplane had flown a few days before, on 24 November, for 1h 03min, over a distance of 44km (24nm) (Flight International, 12-18 August);

The Bell XV-3 was not the first to transition to aeroplane mode (on 18 December 1958); it was the tiltwing Vertol VZ-2 in July 1958 (Flight International, 9-15 September).

While you mention the first piston, turboprop and turbojet, you forgot the ramjet (the Leduc 010 became the first ramjet aircraft to fly, on 21 April 1949).
