Brigadier Khalid bin Abdullah Mubarak Abu Alainain, commander of the UAE Air Force and Air Defence, will deliver a keynote speech at the first Middle East ISTAR (Intelligence, Surveillance, Target Acquisition and Reconnaissance) Conference.

Presented as an extension of the Dubai Air Show 2001, the conference ‘Middle East ISTAR - A Growing Regional Requirement' will be held one day prior to the exhibition, on 3 November.

The conference will focus on four key issues: ISTAR systems, ISTAR sensors and platforms and UAV platforms, sensors and ground and maritime-based systems. The programme has attracted speakers from the UK, UAE, USA, Canada and France. "The new initiative has been well received by the industry as many Middle East countries have ISTAR requirements," says Clive Richardson, chief executive of Fairs and Exhibitions, the organiser.
