The company, based in South Shields in north east England, has an annual turnover of around £9 million ($15 million) and a workforce of more than 200. The company supplies parts for helicopter gearboxes rotor blades and fuselages.
Other customers include the UK defence ministry and BAE Systems. AgustaWestland operations director Ron Sams says “our supply chain performance has seen significant improvement; Ford Components has contributed towards this upturn and benefited our operations both in the UK and overseas.”
Ford Components, which relies on aerospace for 60% of its business, has the authority to approve subcontractors for its work for Westland to ensure continuity of supply.
