The US Forest Service has equipped 200 “primary contact” aircraft – helicopters and fixed-wing air tankers – with Iridium satellite communications for automated flight following. Avionics and services are being provided by Blue Sky Network, Latitude Technologies, Sky Connect and SkyTrac Systems.
