The four US majors serving mainland China are competing for new rights available next year. United is pushing the first-ever capital-to-capital service between Washington and Beijing and American the first-ever service from the south with a Dallas/Ft Worth-Beijing proposal. Continental is proposing Newark-Shanghai and Northwest Detroit-Shanghai. The Transportation Department is expected to make a selection in December.
