Kaman Aerospace has been awarded an initial contract by the US Navy's Naval Air Systems Command as part of a plan to reactivate four ex US Navy SH-2G Super Seasprite helicopters for delivery to the Polish navy.

The preliminary work will see the aircraft delivered to the Polish Naval air station at G'dynia. Once operational the Super Seasprites will operate from the Polish navy's two FFG-7 Class frigates, the ORP General Kazimierz Pulaski, already in service and the ORP General T. Kosciuszko, which is expected to be transferred to Poland later this year.

The aircraft are due to operate in surface surveillance and anti-submarine warfare roles as well as flying utility missions.
