The 50th anniversary of the beginning of the Berlin airlift will be celebrated next year at the International Aerospace Exhibition (ILA'98), which will acknowledge the seminal role the historic mission played in the development of air cargo. ILA'98, to be held from May 18-24, 1998 at Berlin-Schönefeld airport, will place special emphasis on the themes of air transport and air cargo, in both the military and commercial sectors.

The show will feature transport and cargo aircraft, logistics and freight systems, and will also focus on cargo conversions of passenger aircraft.

A spokesman for the organisers says the current demand for new transport and cargo aircraft from military and commercial operators adds further weight to the theme.
