French airport-traffic figures for 1996 show that the passenger numbers at the two main Paris airports, Charles de Gaulle and Orly, grew by 7.4%, to 59.1 million, although aircraft movements grew by a faster 8.6%. The busiest provincial airport remained Nice, which handled 6.6 million passengers, up by 7.5%. It was followed by Marseille (5.5 million, up 5.8%), Toulouse (4.3 million, up 12%) and Montpellier (1.5 million, up by 25%).
