The French army air corps has ordered an undisclosed number of Dassault Electronique EWR-99 radar-warning receivers (RWRs) for use on its fleet of Eurocopter Puma and Aerospatiale Gazelle helicopters.
It is believed that the order covers a limited number of aircraft designated for contingency deployments by the French army. Dassault declines to comment on the deal.
The EWR-99 covers the E- to J-band (2-20GHz) frequency range and makes use of full-band instantaneous frequency-measuring technology. The procurement follows a competitive fly-off between the EWR-99 and Thomson-CSF's Sherloc system.
