French charter carrier Blue Line has ceased operations and returned its fleet of aircraft to their respective leasing companies.
Blue Line was placed under administration in September and the founder of the Paris-based airline, Xavier Remondeau, was removed from his position as chief executive.
New shareholders brought in earlier this year had been planning to restructure the carrier.
However, Blue Line international development manager Pierre-Emmanuel Allard says the carrier ceased operations on 6 October. "Our fleet has been returned to the lessors and the company will be closed by the end of this month," he adds.
Blue Line operated a fleet of eight aircraft - two Airbus A310s, four Boeing MD-83s and two Fokker 100s. The carrier, which began operations in May 2002, performed specialist charter services worldwide.
Allard last month stressed that Blue Line was not bankrupt. He does not give a reason for its closure.
