If you fancy a year in France learning to become an aircraft maintenance engineer, then wander down to Hall 4/C9 here at the Paris Airshow. The stand is manned by the students from the new course running at the University of Aix en Provence near Marseille.

Investing in the future

A $800,000 investment in new machinery which has cut lead times and production costs means that BAS Components is approaching Paris '97 in buoyant mood.

The company, formed in 1993 through a merger between BAS (Aircraft Components) and Bintcliffe Turner, has its Britsh manufacturing bases in Kent and South Wales and a marketing and distribution operation in the USA.

Managing director Peter Kemsley says: "We are meeting the requirements of our aerospace customers for quick response and cost-effectiveness in component supply." These customers include GEC-Marconi, British Aerospace and Smiths Industries.

Visitors to the BAS stand in Hall2/J12 will also be able to learn about the installation of a new $370,000 MRPII computer system designed to optimise service levels.
