A French initiative to encourage more women into engineering is aiming to expand its membership so it can go fully operational later this year.

“Elles bougent” (“Women on the move”), set up by French engineering school ESTACA, is an association promoting engineering careers in the aerospace, automotive and rail industries to women.

By September, it intends to have around 1,000 members, with three or four female mentors per partner company. The aim is to reach more than 1,000 female secondary school students.

Founding members of the organisation include Dassault Aviation, EADS and Gifas.
