The Thales Raytheon Systems joint venture has begun operations following the receipt of all the required regulatory approvals. The company will have operating subsidiaries in France and the USA, will employ 1,300 people at various sites and have a turnover of $600 million, producing air defence command and control and ground based radars. The deal is one of several initiatives by the two sides to pursue areas of possible transatlantic co-operation.
