Frontier Airlines has become the first carrier to announce new service to Cleveland Hopkins International Airport since United Airlines announced its decision to withdraw its hub earlier this month.
The Denver-based, ultra-low cost carrier will add year-round, nonstop service to Orlando and seasonal nonstop service to Seattle starting on 13 June, or nine days after United’s de-hubbing takes effect.
The new service raises Frontier’s destinations from Cleveland to six cities, including Trenton Mercer Airport in Ewing, New Jersey, Denver, Cancun and Punta Cana.
“Northeast Ohioans now have an ultra-low fare option to get to both the east and west coast with Frontier,” says Frontier senior vice-president Daniel Shurz.
Frontier will operate a 168-seat Airbus A320 to Orlando on four weekly frequencies.
Another A320 will fly to Seattle starting on 15 June with three weekly frequencies.
