Mitsubishi is preparing the second FS-X prototype for its maiden flight in early December. Six basic verification flights have been completed so far on the lead aircraft, which is due to be delivered to Japan's Technical Research and Development Institute in March for more extensive testing and envelope expansion. Prototypes three and four are now structurally complete and undergoing functional and system ground testing before first flights in 1996.
