FLIGHTSAFETY International (FSI) is to take over the operation of Embraer's US training centre at Fort Lauderdale, Florida. FSI is already building a Level D flight simulator for the Embraer EMB-145 regional jet, which will be installed at Fort Lauderdale, alongside an EMB-120 simulator, by the end of 1996.

US training company FSI has been named the factory-authorised source of pilot, maintenance-technician, flight attendant and dispatcher training for the 50-seat EMB-145, which is scheduled to enter service by year-end. Embraer has previously provided EMB-120 training at Fort Lauderdale, using an Intersim Level B simulator.

FlightSafety already operates five FSI-built Level C simulators for the 30-seat EMB-120, at Atlanta, Cincinnati, Houston, Paris and Seattle. Embraer will continue to provide training for Brazilian EMB-120 operators.
