European carriers have been raising fuel surcharges again in the wake of Hurricane Katrina. British Airways and Virgin Atlantic increased their long-haul surcharges from £24 ($30) to £30 per sector. Lufthansa increased its short-haul charges by €3 ($3.6) to €12 and for long haul by €15 to €52.
