The seven Japanese aerospace companies, led by IHI, which established Galaxy Express to operate the GX commercial satellite launcher, the GX, have assigned Lockheed Martin to market the booster. The US company has a small share in Galaxy Express. The GX is designed to carry 1.4t payloads into low and medium Earth orbits from 2006. Current market forecasts for that market are poor, however.
