Digital Image Design (DID) is going public with the latest addition to its range of 3D simulators at Farnborough.

The company, which has its base in Warrington, Northwest England, claims to be a world leader in the creation of flight simulation for the personal computer market and is using Show week to unveil its new F-22 simulator, aimed at the highly competitive games sector.

DID, located in Hall 3/E3, was founded seven years ago and has collected numerous awards for its entertainment software. The TFX (Tactical Fighter Experiment) range of games is among Europe's best-sellers.

The company flew the flag for Britain earlier this year at the E3 Interactive Multimedia Exhibition in Los Angeles - the largest exhibition of its kind in the world.

DID beat off stiff competition to win the top award for fighter simulation.

The programme which scooped that award is the EF2000 system which is based on the performance characteristics of Eurofighter 2000.

DID's military consultant Robert Lynch says: "As well as the games market, we are also branching into the military field with training systems and we'll be displaying one of those projects here at Farnborough.

"We've created a simulation which demonstrates the effects of wearing night goggles on a pilot's vision.

"This project is being carried out in conjunction with aerospace company Oxley which designs cockpit lighting that is compatible with night vision."

Digital Image Design has also collaborated with influential sources like British Aerospace and the RAF to make its simulations as accurate as possible.
