Cash-strapped Garuda Indonesia, meanwhile, is seeking to renegotiate the financing for the 12 737-300/500s it is due to receive in 1998, plus a $660 million operating lease agreement on six Airbus A330-300s in service. The airline was only able to take delivery of a batch of five 737-500s late last year after Boeing provided bridging loans, but the manufacturer is balking at the prospect of providing additional funds to Garuda for the remainder. The Rolls-Royce-powered A330s are leased from a consortium of European banks.
