General Dynamics is stepping up its involvement in unmanned air vehicles through a strategic co-operation agreement with Aeronautics Defense Systems of Israel. The Israeli company is developing unmanned air vehicles for GD's potential clients.
GD Ordnance & Tactical Systems, a business unit of General Dynamics, has been awarded a contract by Sentel to provide UAV training support to the US Naval Strike and Air Warfare Center in NAS Fallon, Nevada. The contract is based on the Aerostar UAV system and various payloads supplied by Aeronautics Defense Systems.
Idan Shimon, Aeronautics' vice-president marketing, says the co-operation with GD could lead to the Israeli air force acquiring US-assembled UAVs that could be purchased with US foreign military sales funding.
