The American Eagle contract for 25 Canadair RJ 70s brought a boost to the joint-venture engine company of GE and Snecma. The GE CF34-8C power plant has been selected. The deal is believed to be worth in excess of $250million.

The manufacturer was celebrating another contract - worth $50m - at Le Bourget yesterday when it was announced that their engines were chosen to power seven Boeing 737 aircraft for Sunrock Airlines of Tokyo. Five 737-600s will be powered by CFM567s and the two Boeing 737-300 series will have CFM563s.
