GE Engine Services has announced the establish- ment of its first overhaul facility in China as the initial step in its plans to establish a support structure for Chinese airlines.

Located in Fujian Province, GE On-Wing Support (Xiamen) will form part of the US company's GE On-Wing Support network, which aims to aid airlines by dispatching "rapid response" teams of technicians to any location worldwide when required.

GE On-Wing Support (Xiamen) will support GE Aircraft Engines power- plants in service in China, along with CFM International CFM56s and engines produced by other manufacturers.

"This is the first step in our plan to establish a support structure for the airlines in China," says Bill Vereschi, GE Engine Services' president and chief executive officer.
