Singapore has confirmed its selection of the General Electric F110-129 over Pratt & Whitney’s F100-229 to power its new fleet of at least 12 Boeing F-15SG fighters. GE has been in exclusive contract negotiations with Singapore since the third quarter of last year after gaining preferred bidder status over P&W. Engine deliveries will take place in 2008 and 2009, with a further eight aircraft listed as options. Singapore will become the second F-15 operator to use GE engines after South Korea, which late last year took delivery of its first of at least 40 F110-powered F-15Ks. GE says it is now offering the F110-129 to other potential F-15 customers and as a re-engining solution for inventory aircraft.
