Around 3,000 GE Aircraft Engines (GEAE) employees at three plants were planning a two-day protest from 14 January. The industrial action, organised by the International Union of Electrical Workers-Communications Workers of America, follows the company's decision to increase employee health care contributions. The affected plants are at Madisonville, Kentucky, which builds turbine blades for civil and military engines; Strother Field, Kansas, an overhaul facility; and Lynn, Massachusetts, which assembles helicopter and fighter engines, and the CF34-3 regional engine for Bombardier CRJs. GEAE employs 24,000 workers in the USA. GE says that it will "meet our customer commitments".
