GEC-MARCONI AND Honeywell Military Avionics are teaming to develop a fully integrated "look-and-shoot" helmet-mounted cueing system. Honeywell says that the system will be shown on Lockheed Martin's two-seat F-16 demonstrator in 1996.

The flight demonstrations are designed to show how the system will allow "rapid target acquisition and designation with or without the radar operating" Honeywell adds. The system will interface with new-generation agile missiles and allow high off-bore-sight launches, "...greatly increasing the combat effectiveness of tactical aircraft".

Honeywell Military Avionics will produce both the hardware and software for the helmet-tracking elements of the system, while GEC-Marconi Avionics will provide the display electronics.
