A VARIANT of the GEC Marconi AWARE-3 radar- warning receiver (RWR) will enter service with the British Army Air Corps (AAC) this year, following a seven-year development programme.

The AAC will introduce the ARI.23491/1 RWR as an operational system during 1995, say industry sources.

The 2-18GHz ARI.23491/1 is being installed first on Army Westland Lynx and then on Aerospatiale Gazelle helicopters. According to GEC, "...a significant amount of (ARI.23491/1) equipment has [already] been delivered". The AAC order is believed to number over 100 units.

GEC confirms that the AWARE-3 has been supplied to the Dutch navy.
