OFFSHORE CONTRACTS
CHC Helicopter has been awarded three new contracts and three extensions to provide offshore personnel transport for oil and gas companies across five world regions. The combined value of the contracts is around C$180 million ($184 million), says CHC.
FLIGHT MILESTONE
The US Coast Guard has passed the one million flight hour milestone for its Eurocopter HH-65 Dolphin twin-engine helicopter fleet. The service operates 96 HH-65Cs, an upgraded version of the original helicopter, which is 10% of the entire fleet worldwide. The Coast Guard, operating the helicopters from 17 stations in the continental USA, Hawaii and Puerto Rico, has been using the model since first deliveries in 1985. The one millionth flight hour was achieved on 20 September on a maritime medical mission from Hawaii.
CIVIL SKYLANES
Yingling Aviation is next month set to deliver the 100th Cessna 182T Skylane for the US Civil Air Patrol. The aircraft are modified for search and rescue operations with specialised communications equipment including two Garmin GMA-1347 audio panels, a Technisonic TDFM-136 FM transceiver for direct communication with law enforcement entities, a Becker DF-517 Direction Finder, and an optional Artex 110-406 emergency locater transmitter.
