Olympic support
China’s Ministry of Communications has ordered two Eurocopter EC225 helicopters for search and rescue missions. The medium-large twin-turbine helicopters are to enter service late next year, in time to support the 2008 Beijing Olympics.
levy rejected
The Canadian Owners and Pilots Association and Helicopter Association of Canada have appealed a decision by air navigation service provider Nav Canada to levy a C$10 ($9) daily charge for aircraft weighing 3t or less using one of seven international airports. The charge is scheduled to take effect on 1 March 2008.
liberty ships
Liberty Aerospace has begun delivery of 35 XL2s to Florida-based Ormond Beach Aviation, the first major flight-school customer for the two-seater. The school has an option to purchase 65 more aircraft to replace its Cessna and Piper trainers.
CUB in camo
American Legend Aircraft has introduced the Legend Combat, a version of its Legend Cub two-seat light sport aircraft in 1940s-vintage camouflage and markings, intended to be reminiscent of Piper’s historic military liaison aircraft.
Garmin agreement
Duncan Aviation has expanded its service centre agreement with avionics manufacturer Garmin to provide line repairs at its 20 satellite locations in the USA.
