Germany has approved new legislation which clears the way to privatising the country’s air navigation service provider (ANSP) DFS, and opens air traffic control at regional airports to competition. The new law enables the government to sell up to 74.9% of DFS to private investors. The remaining 25.1% will stay with the German state. In a statement the government says: “Therefore influence of the federal government is protected and possible changes in the objectives of a denationalised DFS will be prevented.”

UK ANSP NATS, meanwhile, will take over control of air traffic at Gibraltar Airport next year.
