EADS Military Aircraft has begun assembly of the first of up to 180 production Euro-fighters for the German air force at Manching, near Munich. Germany is the second Eurofighter partner nation to launch final assembly after the UK. Production lines are also being set up in Spain and Italy.
The first German-built production aircraft is due for its first flight by late 2001 and delivery to the Luftwaffe in mid-2002.
